NEW REPORT, Washington County, VA
A new sighting report has came into Sasquatch Watch of Virginia from Washington County, VA. Gary Brown, one of our southwest VA investigators is currently working with the witness and investigating the area.
A major part of Washington County is in the Great Valley region of Virginia, where Abingdon, the County Seat, was established. To the north are the North Fork of the Holston River and the Clinch mountain range; to the south and east are River Knobs, the junction of the Middle Fork and the South Fork of the Holston River, and the mountain ranges known as the Holston and the Virginia Iron. The combination of springs and elevation provided waterpower, harnessed behind small dams for milling grains and for sawing lumber from the abundant stands of trees. Water powered electrification with direct current brought light and heat to some homes early in the 20th Century. Grayson, Smyth, and Washington Counties join at the top of the second highest mountain (5,520 feet) in Virginia formerly known as "Meadow", because of its prominent bald field. Winter snows in that open field have caused the change of its name to White Top Mountain.
Below are details of the sighting report:
Witness Name:
Dena
What State did the sighting/encounter occur in?
Virginia
Nearest town to sighting/encounter
Meadowview
What county did sighting/encounter occur in?
Washington
Nearest road or highway
Just off lee highway about a mile
Date & Time of Sighting/Encounter
June 19 2012 - 8:30 am
Please explain your sighting/encounter in detail
We were traveling to summer camp in a van with the driver and a few other young teenagers. When we rounded a curve then we saw a very tall and big, dark brown bipedal creature standing beside an old house that had a water well pipe about 12 inches round and 5 to 6 feet tall about 20 feet from the door of the house. The creature was bent over with its hands on the pipe pulling on it or something. The creature was taller than the gutter hanging on the house which was about 9 feet off the ground. We were traveling about 25 mph, and got a good look at it.
If you saw the creature, what did it look like? If you heard the creature, what did it sound like? If you found something, explain.
It was between 9 and 10 feet tall, Dark brown in color, and 3 to 4 feet wide and very big.
Were there any other witnesses?
YES
If any updates become available, we will share them here and at the Sasquatch Watch of Virginia website.

Sci Fi's "Bigfoot"
Trying to play catch up folks! I'm sure some folks tuned in to the SciFi channel to watch the movie called "Bigfoot". All I could say was...WHAT!!!???
Probably one of the worst movies I've ever watched! The actors were terrible and since when did Bigfoot resemble King Kong? I had a hard time believing that this movie was even worth airing. And who made the decision to air it? Folks, if you haven't seen it, you are one of the lucky ones! Don't waste your time.
For those interested, the following link sums it up pretty well.

A New Bigfoot Facebook Page
Sasquatch Watch of Virginia would like to congratulate Gary Brown on the development of his new Facebook page, the Southwestern Virginia Bigfoot Research and Investigation. Here is the link to the site: http://www.facebook.com/southwestvirginiabigfoot. As is stated on the front of his page, the group is dedicated to the investigation and research of Bigfoot sightings in southwestern Virginia. Gary found it necessary to open the group due to the many sighting and encounter reports coming from the area.
Gary is also a member of Sasquatch Watch of Virginia and he had his own sighting last year in Chilhowie, VA. I'm sure he will collect many reports in his area and I give him my support.
