Why make grandiose claims?

Over the past few weeks many claims have been made by groups and individuals.  Claims that many of us have heard before.  You know, like "We have the body of a Bigfoot" and "we have caught a live Bigfoot".  Why are claims like these made?  Is there a reason to make a claim like this and then make people wait for the proof?  If you found the dead corpse of a Bigfoot in the woods, would you make claims like this and not supply photos?  Would you not call the media to back up your claims?  What would you do if something like this happened?  Do you know who to contact if you run in to this situation?  It's definitely something to think about and consider.  But let's discuss the recent claims...

There is one individual that everyone in the Bigfoot community knows has proven himself in the past to be a "hoaxer".  The claims he is making now is no different than it was back then.  Why is it that people always fall for these stories?  We live our lives and we learn from our mistakes and the mistakes of others.  However, in this situation we are talking about a DELIBERATE HOAX, not a mistake.  What makes someone believe that the person involved in the HOAX could actually turn around and be truthful?  Especially someone who has proven themselves to be very unlawful time and time again?  Some people can be read like a book and in my opinion, this person is a wide open book.  Yet, we still have folks that believe him.  It's sad.  But why does he do it?  HE LOVES THE ATTENTION!!!  In addition to that, if there is way to make money off these claims, he will do it again and again.  After all, one of his unlawful actions had to do with scamming people for money, so why not scam people with another Bigfoot body hoax?

Then we have a group that claims they have a live capture.  The capture of Bigfoot in a box.  Folks, I can't make this stuff up.  Although this story differs from the Georgia Bigfoot Hoax, it does make a person think about a few things.  Here are my thoughts on the matter of both.

First of all, if you are a reputable research group and your goal is to prove once and for all the existence of a living, breathing primate roaming the woods of North America that's not supposed to exist, why put out information about it in the first place?  Doesn't it make more sense to wait until you have "all your ducks in a row" before making any announcements?  I find it funny that a group exists that allegedly researches Bigfoot. Any yet they are such a secretive group that they don't normally post any information on the internet or Facebook or forums.  Yet, they find it necessary to make claims of having a live Bigfoot in a box that they captured, but you just have to take their word for it but don't expect to see any photos to prove their claims. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not irritated because there are no photos, I'm irritated because these kind of claims happen continually.  In my opinion, if any of these claims were true, there would be photos shared as proof positive evidence.

Now, I would like to say this.  As director of Sasquatch Watch of Virginia, you will NEVER see me make an announcement like this unless I have the proof to back it up.  Our group does not go around making unbelievable announcements and not show something to back up the claims.  If our group had a body or live specimen, then you would know it right away as every media outlet in the nation would be documenting it.  In addition, I would have every digital media card I own with thousands of photos to back up our discovery.

Why do they wait?  This is my opinion and I may be wrong, but I don't think I am.  They wait so they can find a way to make money off of the claims.  And they enjoy seeing people get worked up by the claims and begging for some evidence.  I've always said from the beginning, I'm not in this for the money.  

Bottom line is this.  These people will continue to tell you what they want you to hear.  They will continue to tell you what you want to hear also.  I think they get some kind of strange enjoyment out of this.  I say if you are going to make a huge announcement, SHOW SOME PROOF!  Otherwise, just keep your mouth shut!  Sorry to be so blunt about this, but its how I feel about it.  Those of us serious about this research are sick and tired of hearing the claims with no back up.  PROVE IT OR TAKE YOUR CRAP AND GO HOME!

Over Their Heads...AGAIN!

I'm not quite sure what I expected, I guess the same as always.  No matter how many times you try to point something out, the main message goes over their heads!

WAKE UP!!!  The main point of the previous blog was not to be an entire discussion about the Bigfoot DNA.  That was only a mere example.  Quite honestly, it doesn't matter what subject is used as an example, you people will find ways to humiliate, ridicule and name call.

The point was this!  Hopefully, I won't have to repeat it, I would slow it down for you, but its hard to do that when typing.

What does putting up pictures of anyone, be it Melba Ketchum or anyone, got to do with hers or anyone's qualifications?  Why do people feel the need to poke fun at others and put others down all the time?  NOTHING!!!  Grow up and get a life!  Take some responsibility in your life for a change.  Take some responsibility and not mislead people with false information for a change.  What does tearing others down have to do with the facts?

As usual, the main point goes right over your heads!  Let's see...maybe let's try to be nice to others?  I wonder if that would work?  And I'm not the person who wrote up your so-called code of ethics, YOU DID!  If you weren't going to follow them, why even put them up?

Oh...and guess what...I had one comment on my blog that had some name calling in it, guess what I did?  I MODERATED my blog because I don't want to stoop to the same level as you all do with your blogs and Facebook group pages.

But, you know what, I've made an earth shattering decision.  It doesn't matter what I say or what anybody says.  So, write up, continue to call names, continue your ridicule and enjoy.  Doesn't matter what I say or anyone says.  You simply can't listen to REASON!

I've made my point, have a great day.  Back to what really matters now.

When does it stop? What can we do?

Folks, put all your thoughts aside for a little while and THINK about what you are doing.  Since the invent of Facebook I have seen more arguing, name calling, threats, rumors and just plain out bad information then when I was in school!

There comes a time when you have to draw the line somewhere.  And lines have been crossed many times over, especially over the past few weeks with the recent Bigfoot DNA study.  What can we do to put a stop to the unnecessary bullying, name-calling, rumors, threats and outright lies and deceptions being put forth by blogs and Facebook groups?  That's an easy one.  QUIT SUPPORTING THEIR ACTIONS! 

WE can stop them by IGNORING them!  Why would you want to get information that has NOT been backed up with any facts anyway.  When you see an article written by the Washington Post or the New York Times, do you see a lot of name calling?  Do you see mindless insults in those publications?  Not usually.  But you can't say that about the newest Bigfoot blogs and Bigfoot Facebook groups out there right now.  As a matter of fact, they can't go a single day without some kind of name calling or bullying taking place.  Let's discuss a few examples...

Let's take this one for example.  "The Ketchum paper was REJECTED and FAILED PEER REVIEW."  Really? Where is this announcement?  In the "Evidence" blog?  Please, give me a break.  We need a REAL NEWS AUTHORITY to show us that information.  The "Evidence" blog has had many of problems with its new sources in the past and I'm sure that continues down to this day.  It is an UNRELIABLE source of information pertaining to the field of bigfoot research.

Then, let's not forget the mention the "Coalition" facebook page where pictures are put up of people so other's can come in and make fun of them.  Here's some great examples of REAL journalism...(sure whatever)...

"Upholding a ton of bullsh*# for four years just ain't easy..." a quote made about Melba Ketchum.
"The only conspiracy here is the Ketchumites trying desperately to cover their own as*es."
"It is not an attack on "personal character."

Really?  Not an attack on her personal character?  Well darn, I guess I must have been asleep in school that day.  If you don't think you are personally attacking her as a person, I certainly wouldn't be going around claiming I had college courses in writing, that's for sure!  Because obviously you also don't know the definition of hypocrisy.  Let me help you out with that.  Hypocrisy : a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.  You may ask, how can I make that statement?  This is how.  This is taken straight from their own Facebook group page...

"This group is open to all, and seeks to promote the spirit of rational thinking and evidence-based reality orientation in Bigfoot Studies. This is a group open to the possible/probable existence of Bigfoot, as well as skepticism and critical thought, so long as it is not hateful or slanderous. This group is anarchistic to the greatest degree possible, and non-believers and believing fanatics are equally welcome to participate. All are encouraged to be either constructive or funny, but we ask that personal insult be avoided as useless and pointless. Take a stand for the compatibility of Sasquatch and Reason. A Code of Ethics (writing still in progress) applies to members of this group. Those who cannot abide by it will be asked to leave or may be banned."  The underlined words are my emphasis.  Rational?  Where?  Evidence-based? Where?  Not hateful or slanderous?  Tell me another one.  All non-believers and believing fanatics are welcome?  Of course they are, that way you can do the things you claim you won't according to your own rules.  No personal insults because they are useless and pointless?  The statement is true, but no one follows them, especially the author of the group.

Now, I know what's next.  I must be a friend or supporter of Melba Ketchum.  I'm friends with her on Facebook, yes.  Supporter, not really.  I am not involved at all with any of the process with the DNA study. But, I am a human being and Melba Ketchum is a human being that does NOT deserve the personal attacks she is undergoing.  I have said from the beginning, the process needs to go through the peer review process, plain and simple.  Some would like you to think they have some kind of "inside knowledge" of the process.  THEY DON'T AND JUST WISH THEY DID.

So, when does it stop and what can we do?  It stops when we quit supporting them and their lies.  It has been admitted by some of the blog owners that every time you click on their blogs, they get PAID.  YES, THEY GET PAID!  One of them makes thousands of dollars a month!  So, it makes sense that they want to put up as much content as possible.  Why?  So you will CLICK, put another dollar in their bank account.  Why do they not moderate their comment sections?  Because, the drama makes you CLICK their blog so you can read the nasty, name-calling actions of others!  They know how to make money!  They want you to think there's nothing they can do about other people's comments.  NOT TRUE!  Every blog has a moderation ability and the comment section can even be turned off.  But, they don't want that.  Therefore, by allowing the name-calling and insulting comments to continue, they in part SUPPORT the comments and those commenting.  We stop them by not clicking on their blogs.  There are many other avenues in this technological world to get the information we seek.

This field of research needs to get back to the roots of it's beginning.  Cooperation with one another, the sharing of information without the fear of ridicule, common sense research.  Making GOOD friends along the way.  There is an old saying I used to repeat a lot and I'm going to bring it back.  When this stops being fun, it's time to leave!  If things continue down the path they are, many GOOD researchers will stop working with others and keep all their hard work to themselves.  Is that what we want?

Again, I leave you with the thought...when this stops being fun, it's time to leave!

DNA analysis of the Bigfoot/Sasquatch

The DNA analysis of the Bigfoot/Sasquatch specimen conducted by Dr. Melba Ketchum the head of DNA Diagnostics, Timpson, TX, USA has been over!

Team of American scientists led by Dr. Melba Ketchum for five years has analyzed 109 purported samples of such creatures. The study has sequenced DNA of a novel North American hominin, commonly called Bigfoot or Sasquatch.

There were a large numbe

r of laboratories associated with this study including academic, private and government laboratories in which blind testing was utilized to avoid prejudice in testing. Great time and care was taken in the forensic laboratories to assure no contamination occurred with any of the samples utilized in this study. 

After 5 years of this study the scientists can finally answer the question of what sasquatch really is. It is human like us only different, a hybrid of a human with unknown species. Early field research shows that the Bigfoot/Sasquatches are massively intelligent which has enabled them to avoid detection to a large extent. They are different than us, however human nonetheless. 

The hybridization event could not have occurred more than 15000 years ago according to the mitochondrial data in some samples. Origin of this hominin was probably Middle Eastern/Eastern Europe and Europe originally though other geographic areas are not excluded.

The manuscript associated with this study has been submitted to a scientific reviewed magazine.
For years people have refused to believe they exist. Now that we know that they are real, it is up to us to protect them from those that would hunt or try to capture them for research or for sport. They should be left alone to live as they live now. After all, they are our relatives.

At this time, analysis of the Sasquatch genomes is still ongoing. Further data will be presented in the future following this original study. Additionally, analysis of various hair samples purportedly from Siberian Wildman are being tested in an effort to determine if relatedness exists between the Sasquatch and Russian Wildman.

NYS DEC states Bigfoots are Mythical

November 20^th, 2012

New York State DEC Chief Wildlife Biologist states that Bigfoots are Mythical and do not exist anywhere in the World…

Peter Wiemer, of the Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot Expo, requested in a second letter dated October 26^th, 2012 to New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joseph Martens to request better language from the DEC’s first response to Peter’s request in enacting a non-hunting regulation of Bigfoots in New York State.

In Peter’s first letter, dated July 29^th, 2012, Mark Kandel, on the Commissioner’s behalf, replied on August 13^th, “the DEC does not recognize the occurrence of Big Foot in the state, therefore it is not addressed directly in our hunting regulations. Because it is not addressed there is no open season on Big Foot and they may not be taken.” To clarify, since Bigfoots are not addressed directly in the NYS hunting regulations, they are not to be killed if seen or found, said Peter Wiemer.

Following the announcement of SpikeTV’s $10 million dollar bounty for proof of a Bigfoot and the beginning of big game hunting season in NYS, Mr. Wiemer believed it was reasonable to request again to Commissioner Joseph Martens to provide stronger wording to help protect Bigfoots from being harmed.

In Peter’s second request to the NYS DEC on October 26^th via the Commissioner’s website, Peter urged to have stronger wording for those who do not fully understand the species’ rights if not listed. In the response dated November 6^th, 2012 by Chief Wildlife Biologist, Gordon R. Batcheller, stated, “This mythical animal does not exist in nature or otherwise... However, the simple truth of the matter is that there is no such animal anywhere in the World. I am sorry to disappoint you. However, no program or action in relation to mythical animals is warranted”.

The letter goes on to talk about how many species of naturally occurring wildlife New York State does have and how the DEC takes care of all of them. If there are people who believe they are out there and those who are witnesses to Bigfoot sightings in NYS, then why wouldn’t the DEC consider their feelings in regards to this species protection?

This is the question Peter Wiemer is trying to get answered. After he created the Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot Expo, he found himself to be a confidant for those who had seen a Bigfoot. “We have had nine eyewitnesses to date, of Bigfoot sightings in Chautauqua County come forward resolving themselves of the burden of knowing what they saw and were afraid of or not willing to tell because of fear of ridicule. All but one wished to remain anonymous”.

Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, are large human like beings covered in hair and standing upwards of eight to ten feet tall. Steve Kulls, a Bigfoot researcher from the Adirondacks, NY reported at the Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot Expo on May 6^th, 2012 and can be seen on video at their website, that the first documented sighting of a Bigfoot in the USA was in Sackets Harbor, NY in 1818. This, along with many other documented sightings in NYS over the years, including law enforcement, would seem to dispel the notion that Bigfoots are mythical.

The "Evidence" and "Lindsay" Blogs

Has anyone noticed a trend here? Think about it...

Lindsay puts out a blog that hints that the MABRC has a body of a bigfoot. People jump in on that. Then the Evidence blog follows up on that to spread the rumor further. Is anyone getting this yet? Well, let me spell it out for some of you...

Since the Bigfootery Enquirer likes to point out so many "wrongs" within the bigfoot community (things that they get wrong 100% of the time) now its my turn...but mine will be 100% correct...

What do both the "Lindsay" blog and "Evidence" blog do?

1) Cause arguments within the community.
2) Allow profane and mean spirited comments on their blogs and they do NOTHING about it (even though they have COMPLETE control over that).
3) They actually WANT the arguments because the more clicks they get, the more money they make.
4) They don't have to put out anything factual at all, because people will read anything and believe it.
5) They make a laughing stock at every researcher out there. Their articles are laughable at best.
6) They "friend" up with other groups to steal stories for their blogs and make money off of YOU! (Examples: Struefert with Coalition Page and Team Tazer to name a couple)
7) They think they DESERVE answers as if they are some type of authority DEMANDING proof.

Bottom line is this. Lindsay and Shawn, you both HAVE the ability to do BETTER research and make certain that your information is FACTUAL. You both have the COMPLETE CONTROL over your blogs to do away with the harsh comments and name calling tactics of the high school acting commentors on your blogs. You have no one to blame but yourselves. But, I have a feeling this will all fall on deaf ears because the money generated by your blogs is stronger than your desire to put out truth and fact.

And, by the way, this same info goes for some of the bigfoot group pages as well. They may not be making money, but they feel they gain some type of fame over their comments. And yes, I will name one in particular. The Coalition page run by Steven Streufert. That page is full of folks that have only one purpose in mind. To criticize and name call anyone and everyone in the research. How many times has Steven said he's stepping away from bigfoot? More times than the fingers on both of my hands! The only reason people want that page to remain open is because they know they can come there and say whatever they want and get away with it. Why? Because the director of the page JUST DOESN'T CARE! Steven, this field doesn't owe you NOTHING! Hopefully one day you will get that through your head! Just the same as it owes me NOTHING.

Has anyone ever heard of constructive critcism? There is absolutely nothing wrong with discussing a subject, disagreeing with each other and moving on. Instead, these blogs and pages resort to name calling and making up stories to hurt others. Clean up your Facebook pages and your blogs and make yourselves more respectable! Ok, done with the rant.
